What's a good camera?

In reality all cameras, no matter what brand or model, have the ability to take good pictures. In practice however, picture quality depends highly on user ability. It's what you know that counts. The camera is only a tool.

If you don't know what to choose, it would be safe to stick with proven brands like Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax, Mamiya, and Hasselblad for dSLR's. For point-and-shoot cameras, look at Canon, Sony, Pentax, Fujifilm, Panasonic, and Leica. For rangefinders Leica is the best. For hybrids, mirrorless or CSC's, look at Fujifilm or Sony. With SLT's, Sony is the only choice.
